The World’s Most Beautiful Marathon!
The Second Annual Mad Marathon and Mad Half are scheduled for
July 8, 2012 in the gorgeous Mad River Valley, located in Central Vermont.
You will be running through this extraordinary rural community on back and
dirt roads, with breathtaking views of the Green Mountains, challenging rolling
farmlands with tough climbs and descents, quaint villages, historical barns, covered
bridges and fields of our famous Vermont cows!
The 2nd Annual Mad Marathon is just two months away and we thought we’d start a Mad Marathon Blog where we can post upcoming activities taking place at our event this year. We offer a race for just about everyone: the Mad Marathon, the Mad Half, the Mad Half Walkers, 3-person Relay and the new Mad Corporate Team Challenge where $25 of every entry supports our local charities.
Our Expo this year is going to part of the Saturday Farmer’s Market which takes place on the Mad River Green, our finish area. Later that day we have our first Ice Cream Party with live music from Phineas Gage. Join us at the Gazebo right at the finish line.
Vermont is back from its bad date with Irene . . . our roads are repaired,
our cows and fields have dried out, but our local farmers and business
owners could use a boost. That’s why The Mad Marathon, July 8th in
Waitsfield, has designated Irene Recovery as a non-profit beneficiary and
added a Mad Half Walker category (now there is no excuse to not
participate). The 1,200 runners in 2011 from 46 states and 12 countries
were just the beginning. So, walk, relay or run to see Vermont’s recovery
for yourself and help Central Vermont’s economy sprint to the finish line!
